Hintok River Campsite 

The Hintok River camp is Thailand's most visited tented camp and enjoys a dreamy location amidst stunning jungle terrain. The camp is near the famous Hellfire Pass memorial site and scenic trekking trails. You can relax and unwind on a massive cliff overlooking the River Kwai in this iconic location. The scenery of the Kwai Noi River and the beautiful local villages and temples are something to behold. The camp is also close to the Sai Yok National Park, which has other hidden historical sites from World War II.

 

How to Visit the Hintok River Camp?

Hintok River Camp is located on Hintok mountain in Kanchanaburi, overlooking Kwai. Visitors can reach Hintok River Camp by road or by train. It takes a three-hour drive from Bangkok to reach Kanchanaburi. Then visitors have to head toward the Saiyok district. The Hintok River Camp will be on the left side of Highway 323. Visitors can also travel here by the Camp’s private transport. The train options available are two(morning and evening trains), which run from Thonburi Station in Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (Bangkok) and take a stop at Kwai bridge station. The train fare is THB 100 per person.

  Did You Know?

The Hintok River Campsite was a British POW camp built by the Japanese army during WWII. The Japanese army gathered many POWs and local people to work on the death railway. Unfortunately, due to harsh treatment by the Japanese army, many POWs and locals lost their lives.
