Bang Kachao: Discover Bangkok's Green Lung on a Motorbike

Getting around on a touring bike, taxi, or tuk-tuk while on holiday in Thailand's cities or central tourist, regions is standard. However, when you want to get away from Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (Bangkok) for a more peaceful and pleasurable experience, Bang Kachao is for you. It is the green lung of Bangkok, a perfect place to discover by a rented boneshaker.

Bang Kachao is very bicycle-friendly, and you can dreamily enjoy the sights and sounds of the island. Beautiful trees line either side of the road, and although you might occasionally see a motorbike or car, it is more tranquil than the city.

If you want to escape from the city for a day, visiting Bang Kachao and exploring the area by motorbike is the ultimate experience; don't forget to wear a dome!

Stunning Attractions in Bang Kachao

Ban Kachao, located in Bangkok City, is an artificial island formed by the local Chao Phraya River bends. 16 km in size, the island has a small population but is famous as an urban oasis and is sometimes called the ‘green lung’ by locals. The Bangkok city folks get away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis for a few hours and relax in Bang Kachao.

Nature lovers and those renting bicycles and exploring the surroundings love the Bang Kachao peninsula. The Burmese Mon people initially populated the area when they first settled in Thailand, but times have changed. One great thing about Bang Kachao is that it remains undeveloped and protected today to preserve nature in the district.

How to Rent a Motorbike in Bang Kachao?

You can take a boat to Bang Kachao and be dropped off at a wooden pier. Here you will be able to get a motorbike taxi to become a back warmer and take you wherever you want, and don't forget to put a brain bucket on, but we recommend you explore the island by a ring stretcher. You can bring your bicycle on the boat or rent one for the whole day for as little as 100 THB. Alternatively, you can rent a motorbike for 50 THB per hour.

Approximately 1 km from the pier, you will arrive at the Sri Nakhon Khuan Khan Park, which covers almost half of the island. It is an untouched part of Bang Kachao filled with native trees. If you are a bird-watching and wildlife fan, the park is the ultimate place to stop on your bike to take in the scenery.

The expansive flora and fauna take the experience to the next level. When you want to do something a bit different or are tired of the fast-paced nature of Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (Bangkok), take a look at Bang Kachao. Staying vertical on a bike ride around Bang Kachao will realign your senses and bring you back to life.

As Gilbert Chesterton once said, "The traveler only sees what he sees, while the tourist sees what he has come to see."

So, until next time... Rumble on!
