The Buddha’s Footprint in Khao Khitchakut National Park

Buddha’s Footprint is a massive upright rock with the indentation of something resembling the Buddha’s footprint. A special pilgrimage to the Buddha’s Footprint is like appearing before Buddha and is considered a significant deed for Buddhists.

Thousands of people each year visit the natural monument and temple. Many like to visit in the months of February and March. This coincides with the Magha Puja holiday time. You don’t have to be Buddhist to appreciate this monument, but it will have a deeper meaning if you are. Make sure you come and pay your respect to the Buddha’s Footprint. We can assure you that you will feel something spiritual within you.

The Bear Travel   Trivia!

The park has a total area of 59 sq km.

Travel through Phluang Temple

You will need to trek to find the monument, with a starting point at Phluang Temple. You can get a 4-wheel drive vehicle up the steep 8 km route toward the peak. Once you reach the dropping-off point, you must trek for another 1.2 km, which will take you to the mountaintop. Once at the summit, you will be greeted by mesmerizing and elevated views.

You will see several geological phenomena in the Buddha’s Footprint, such as the impressive stone pagoda, the stone shaped like an upside-down monk’s alms bowl, and the hermit cave. Visiting the Buddha’s Footprint is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for some, so take advantage of this while visiting the stunning Khao Khitchakut National Park.

Khao Khitchakut National Park

The Khao Khitchakut National Park is home to the Buddha’s Footprint, many stunning natural features, and the impressive 13-level Khao Khitchakut Krathing Waterfall. This waterfall is the park's main attraction and attracts many foreign travelers.

The park is situated over 59 square kilometers and is a fantastic place to visit for the day. The park's three main waterfalls are Klong Chang Se, Kra-ting, and Klong Kra-sue. We suggest you trek along the 13 levels to get the best experience possible, and although that can take 3 to 4 hours for the roundtrip, it is worth the hassle.

Merging the majestic Buddha’s Footprint, the stunning waterfalls, dense rainforests, stunning natural wonders, and an elevation up to 1,085 meters high, or alternatively 3,560 feet at its peak, the Khao Khitchakut National Park is something to behold. We suggest the best times of the year to visit the park, and the Buddha’s Footprint weather-wise are from late November to mid-March.

The monsoon season in Thailand usually comes between April and November, so make sure you choose the ideal time to visit the park also if you are visiting, especially to see the revered Buddha’s Footprint and want to see it at the best possible time.
