Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Travel Thailand Alone

As Thailand is one of the world's top tourist destinations, the 'land of smiles' has much more to offer solo travelers looking for their next adventure. Solo travel in Thailand is simply awesome and I think it is one of the best countries in the world for traveling alone 🏝️

So, if you travel alone to Thailand, there will be numerous activities, 🏊 attractions, accommodations, and new friends around instead of enjoying traditional sunbaths, exploring nature, nightlife, and sightseeing with your family, friends, or soulmate.

There are dozens of reasons to fall in love with traveling alone in Thailand. But here’s the top 10 reasons why you should travel to Thailand alone πŸ§”

Solo Travel in Thailand

There're so many tourists in Thailand, and a lot of them are traveling in Thailand alone. With other solo travelers here, it’s very easy to find companions to join you on your Thailand itinerary. In addition, it is a gorgeous country and there are so many travel destinations to visit and activities to keep you busy until you may forget you are a solo. And the best one is about the budget πŸ§”

#10 - Easy to Find Budget-Friendly Accommodations

Thailand offers a variety of accommodation options. In my opinion,  most of them are of great value. Hostels tend to be the most budget-friendly option and easiest way to make friends for solo travelers. Thailand has thousands of hostels, and most of them are clean, cheap, central, and safe. πŸ•οΈ People who love to travel alone in Thailand will also be eager to learn that there are plenty of guesthouses offering affordable rooms as well.

If not, consider one of the simple private beach bungalows. You can pay just a small payment for the private cabin above by the beachside. It may be a great option when you need a little space for yourself. So, you can easily save more money and stay comfortably in Thailand and that's why I have to put it in my reasons why you should travel to Thailand alone πŸ§”

#9 - Companions from Different Countries

Unless you visit Thailand alone, you’ll rarely be away from other travelers, including plenty of those going it solo. It’s very easy to meet new people and make new friends. You may not want to spend your entire trip with the same people, as it may be boring. It's awesome and nice to have pals to have dinner, drinks, or adventures with. You may be a solo traveler, but there’s no need to be alone if you don’t want to be. When you go back to your country you may have so many different people from different countries after traveling alone Thailand πŸ§”

#8 - Easier to Get Familiar with Local People

I know that Thailand is known as the Land of Smiles! β€πŸ§”The people of Thailand are, for the most part, warm and welcoming towards foreign visitors. It will exactly help to keep your Thailand tour pleasant. Especially, they may be close to solo travelers rather than a big crowd. And they may openly talk and help the solo travelers in their needs. For me, solo travel in Thailand was really easy with local people's guidelines and support and you may feel the same. So, it's the top 8th reason to visit Thailand alone.

#7 -  Various Modes of Transport Available

When you travel to Thailand alone, one of the best things you may experience is that it's so easy to get around. It includes both in cities and around the country. There's a lot of help to be found while the longer and confusing routes require multiple changes, making your Thai travels worry-free. There are more options to get around in the cities in Thailand. πŸ›΅πŸš†πŸš–

Bangkok has a wonderful Skytrain and metro system that is easy to use. It connects to the airport, without connecting to the Old Town where many of the attractions are. There is a boat service πŸ›₯  that runs the Chao Phraya River and stops at many of the attractions including the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, and Khao San road.

The other option is to rely on tuk-tuks or taxis. Tuk-tuks tend to be more expensive but the best mode of transportation when you travel alone. But, make sure to do your bargaining before you get into the taxi or tuk-tuk. Many islands also rely on tuk-tuks or taxis and you can visit whatever you need freely without depending on others' ideas πŸ§”

The other popular mode of solo travel in Thailand is by motorbike, which travelers can rent for a day, week, or even month. This way you can easily explore further to reach places without having to rely on anyone else πŸ›΅ As a tourist, you will pay more than locals but when you travel alone, you can earn profits.

#6 -  No Need to Worry about Meal Times

One of the most difficult things for travelers who travel alone is meal times. As of course, cooking your meal in a hostel is an option but sometimes you want to eat out. Normally, eating out alone can be uncomfortable, especially if you are a solo female traveler. However, I like to say surely, it's not a problem in Thailand. You'll agree with me if I say, most of the best food will be street food.

There are no tables or reservations required. Just join the line, grab a seat if there’s one available, or take your meal to go. For many travelers, this is the easiest way of eating out without the pressure of being alone. Accordingly, easy meal times is the 6th and one of the best aspects of solo travel in Thailand πŸ§”

#5 -  Safety for Solo Travelers

I must say that safety is also one of the best reasons to travel to Thailand alone. The country is generally very safe for solo visitors. Generally speaking, most travelers feel very comfortable traveling alone in Thailand. The best piece of advice I can give you about traveling in Thailand alone is to use basic common sense as you would anywhere else. Then I can surely say no worries, Thailand is a safe place to travel. So, don’t become too anxious, but equally remember don't walk around late at night alone, be careful of accepting drinks at bars or leaving them unattended, and generally don’t do anything you wouldn’t do at home.

#4 - Wider Range of Tourist Destinations

The best Thai island for solo travelers where it is easy to meet other solos is Koh Samui. In addition, it is the largest of the islands with beautiful sea beaches and a lively party scene. There are quieter parts of the island for singles. Bo Phut is great for those wishing to escape from it all in a beach bungalow with waves lapping at your door 🏝️ You can see the Mummified Monk, the Buddha's Magic Garden, and Namuang Waterfall also. When you travel alone you can just hire a scooter or a taxi for a day.

Chaweng beach is the most visited by solo travelers with its party dwellers and a beach that stretches for miles. You can do a day trip from here to Koh Tao, one of the best places to travel in Thailand for diving. If not, you can take a snorkeling trip here from Koh Samui instead.

Near Koh Samui is the beautiful Ang Thong National Marine Park. It is the best place to go in Thailand for some of the most spectacular scenery. You can reach some of the islands such as Koh Wua Ta Lap or Koh Mae on a day trip from either Koh Samui or Koh Phangan πŸ§”

#3 -  A Deeper Break

You may think that traveling alone in Thailand is downright exhausting before you explore places on your own. Solo traveling may surely allow you to switch your people skills on and off on your own time. I also have learned to sit alone in a Thai cafe full of people and be content with just the company of myself.

On the other hand, not knowing anyone at your destination coaxes you out of your introverted shell πŸ§” When you do feel like socializing, you will be forced to branch out and make new friends rather than limit your interactions with people. According to my experience, as a result of that, you may have new connections and Facebook friends in just about every part of the world after your solo travel.

#2 - Great and Better Experience

Solo travel to Thailand is an opportunity to discover yourself as you discover the country. You have the freedom to take experiences without responsibility for your family or career. There is no need to compromise. As a solo traveler, you can do what you want, when you want, and you’re not dragged to places that don’t interest you.

For example, if you don't like to visit cultural places, you will avoid that. You can get the experience of new skills and often learn more because it’s all up to you to navigate culture and logistics πŸ§” You are the boss and you can consider your meal, transport, accommodation, and everything that you preferred without the weight of someone else’s opinions.

#1 -  Total Pocket-Free Budget

Thailand is a relatively inexpensive country to explore. It’s easier to stay within your budget when you are traveling alone to Thailand. Everyone has different comfort levels, which can lead to various price differences for accommodation, food, and transport.

However, I usually prefer to walk or take public transport, both for the experience and to save money 🚌 And mostly I love street food and small accommodations. So, my budget may be very low. That's why you should travel to Thailand alone. You can have a low budget while saving. And of course, I hardly believe this, nothing will teach you about minimalism better than a solo trip to Thailand.

To conclude, I suggest you take a solo journey to Thailand. There is no boss, no limitations, no responsibilities to stop your freedom. As you take the opportunity to travel alone, then enjoy your life. Solo travel sparks something inside of you. Traveling solo teaches you just how amazing and powerful you are. Take the chance and enjoy the beauty of Thailand and the warm welcome of Thai people πŸ†οΈ
